November is one of those months which brings about a lot of change. Changing of the seasons, the weather (from, “oh it’s a chilly one today isn't it?” - all the way to - “have you packed your hats, scarves, gloves and heat packs?”). We begin to really come to terms with the end of those sunnier days and the thought of wearing sunglasses eludes us. We go from seeing these absolutely amazing colours in the trees to all those bare branches left right and centre - change is certainly in the air.
For the first page - we’re keeping to our usual ‘format’ of a big page for the start of the new month with an illustration in there too. With this one, nothing too complex but rather than simply lettering over the drawing - it appears the lettering and leaf are one. Letter out November, getting your spacing how you fancy, then draw your leaf - making sure you don’t draw over the top on the lettering. VERY simple but lovely. We’ve used a Black TOMBOW Brush Pen for the lettering and for the leaf an orange brush pen (think from WHSmith - from the 12 pack) along with a fine liner to add a bit of detail here and there. For the rest of the month, we primarily use these colours again and again, predominantly for ease. Plus, you could be all day just choosing which colours to use on every page!
GO GET EM'
Starting off with your initial thoughts on ‘goals’ - anything you want to get done this month is a good start. If you have something you're really keen to crack, then this is a great time to get it down on paper. Whether to do with your wellbeing or career goals - get them noted down making it a tad easier to figure out the steps on how to get there. We’ve put each type of ‘goal’ in boxes just to help us separate them in our mind otherwise we’ll just have a great long list - from here, we can prioritise with a clear mind.
We hope this has given you a little inspo for your next spread. Or, simply given you an idea to whip out a notebook and put pen to paper again. We'll be back for more BuJo lettering later this month for December!

We are incredibly excited to be hosting our workshops at 3 new venues in the North West - all in time for Christmas!
We have 3 new venues for you, all in different locations all to reach more and more new calligraphers. All 3 new venues will host our Christmas Beginners Modern Calligraphy workshop - our festive themed dip pen workshop. In our Christmassy workshop, we’ll cover all the fundamentals just like our regular 2 and a half hour workshops - entire upper and lower alphabet, then joining words and phrases (but now, all Christmas themed!). For decorative ornaments, think baubles and festive wreaths:) Please have a browse at where we're heading!
THE TURNPIKE, LEIGH
OCT EVE. WEDNESDAY 30TH AT 6:30PM
First off, we’re venturing to Leigh later this month, a 40-minute drive from Manchester, for our first Christmas Beginners Modern Calligraphy workshop of 2019 at The Turnpike! An independent Art Gallery - hosting new exhibitions and workshops. We’ll be bringing all our gear to Leigh on Wednesday October 30th at 6:30pm till 9pm - we’ll be getting started just before 6:30pm with a break for refreshments halfway through and then back to it until 9pm. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be well on your way to creating your own festive stationery; whether gift tags, envelopes or larger pieces such as wall art to share with the family.
Next on the list, is a venue further up North - heading into The Lakes! We’ll be hosting our first ever workshop in Cumbria at the end of next month at Hawkshead Brewery in Staveley - a 15 minute drive North from the centre of Kendal. We’re very excited for this one as we’re regular visitors of The Lakes - a place which has a completely different vibe to leafy Lytham but really not that far away from us! We also now have family based that way on, so we’re driving up there more and more - it only felt fitting to see if we can find a new venue here! We’ll be at Hawkshead Brewery on Sunday November 24th at 2:30pm till 5pm - our usual set up, getting started just before 2:30pm - a tea/ coffee break halfway through and then carrying on with design templates and ornaments till 5pm!
