Hello and welcome to Mellor & Rose Calligraphy Workshops Liverpool!
We have been hosting Modern Calligraphy, Brush Lettering and Chalk Lettering Workshops in Liverpool at The Pen Factory, One Fine Day, 60 Hope Street, LEAF on Bold Street, Merseymade and CASS ART, for a few years now and thoroughly enjoy every visit to this brilliant city. We had the pleasure of exhibiting some of our Calligraphy and Handlettering pieces at our 'The Joy of Hand Lettering' Exhibition at CASS ART Liverpool which took place in the Summer of 2020, displaying pieces of our work in dip pen, brush pen and chalk pen all in varying scales and sizes - showing the phenomenal potential with Hand Lettering! Mellor & Rose host Calligraphy and Lettering Workshops throughout the North West of England in art spaces, cafes, hotels, wedding venues and more!
We're Mellor & Rose Calligraphy; Calligraphers and Lettering Artists based in Lytham St Annes, North West of England. Made up of Beverley Mellor, Polly Mellor and Lucy Mellor - Mellor & Rose is a family business who are passionate about sharing the Joys of Calligraphy and all the wonderful and creative benefits it brings. In 2022, we will be hosting our Workshops in Lancashire, Merseyside, Wirral, Manchester, Cumbria, Yorkshire, Leicestershire and Gloucestershire.
We have the total joy of hosting our Modern Calligraphy, Brush Lettering and Chalk Lettering Workshops at beautiful venues and spaces across the UK. Alongside our Workshops, we offer Calligraphy Writing Services for Private Events such as Weddings and Parties along with Branding work and Live Event Calligraphy. Clients and venues include H&M, Chanel, Daylesford Organic, Neptune, David M Robinson, Tatcha, Booths Supermarkets and GHOST Fragrances. MODERN CALLIGRAPHY: THE BEGINNERS WORKSHOPS
Fancy joining us on our Beginners Modern Calligraphy workshop?
In our easy going sessions, we start from the very beginning. In the 2 and a half hours, we cover the fundamentals of this modern and versatile style of calligraphy, using a dip pen and a pot of ink. We'll learn the entire alphabet; upper and lower case alphabets then we'll progress onto joining up those individual letters to create words and phrases - we work on different papers to see how the ink reacts to glossier paper plus black ink on brown paper looks pretty lovely! From here, we delve into the layout elements of hand lettering - looking into varying ways to put your designs on paper (not only on a straight line!) along with the use of ornaments to shape our designs and bring some pop!
Take some time away from our screens and pick up a pen - possibly a new pen, a pen we haven't held before - a dip pen! In our workshops, we use a metallic nib and to get the desired effect of lovely calligraphy, we simply dip the nib into a pot of ink - a method rather therapeutic in itself. Once we have the hang of the core technique - we work through the individual letters of the alphabet and joining of the words to then spacing and layout, plus a couple of ornaments here and there!

WHAT'S INCLUDED?
Included in our Beginners Modern Calligraphy Workshop is a Dip pen, nib, entire upper and lower case alphabet, joining up the letters, practice sheets, first letter forms, design and layout sheets (larger scale wall art) all designed and created by Mellor & Rose, ornaments, decorative illustrations (drawing with our dip pen, plus our Calligraphy Stationery Gift Bag along with Refreshments. All designs are created in-house, which allows us flexibility in producing Themed Worksheets to match the Seasons or for our Wedding Calligraphy Workshops.

HOW TO BOOK
To book your spot on our Beginners Modern Calligraphy Workshop, simply get in touch with Lucy Mellor - mellorandrose@icloud.com.
Booking wise, we secure bookings with a £19 deposit sent via PayPal invoice to your email before the workshop with the remaining balance of £50 paid on the day. Deposits are non-refundable but are transferrable if notice is given 48 hours before the workshop.

HOW TO BOOK
To book your spot at any of our Mellor & Rose Calligraphy workshops:
Step 1. Get in touch via link below or email Lucy Mellor at mellorandrose@icloud.com - simply let us know the date of the workshop and how many booking onto the workshop.
Step 2. Deposit invoice of £15pp/ £18pp is sent to your email via Paypal before the workshop to confirm your spot.
Step 3. An email is sent to you 48 hours before the workshop confirming your spot, the venue and time. No need to bring anything as Starter Kit & Refreshments are provided.
Step 4. Workshop time! Remaining balance (£30/ £40) is paid on the day. Workbooks available to purchase on the day as a practice follow-on guide with new designs templates to keep your hand flowing even after the session.
Deposits are non-refundable but are transferrable to a different workshop if 48 hours notice given.
